They act like it was a mutual decision, like it was something we decided we wanted to do and now we don't like it but it's our own fault for wanting it in the first place.

They talk like it was done openly and honestly, like we were all brought into the Oval Office as a Senior Staff Meeting and briefed on the situation and asked for our opinions. Like anything else policy. Like it wasn't done in deceit and dishonesty and secrecy.

They lied.

To me.

A lot.

And then they act like they didn't. Makes me crazy.

Everyone else on Senior Staff knew before me. Hell, Joey LUCAS knew before me! I found out four days before we went public. FOUR DAYS. That's the length of a "long weekend" from school when you're a kid that doesn't seem nearly long enough to merit its name.

CJ screwed up.

We all know it, none of us can believe it, and now they're ready to kill her for it.

Like the amount of stress we've been under hasn't meant anything.

Like the fact that we just buried one of our own is meaningless.

Like sleep is so overrated and none of us can remember the last time each of us slept anyway, so it must not be important.

Like a week is enough time to deal with all of this.

Like they would know - Toby's had over fifteen days to deal with this, Josh has had almost that. Leo's had a year and a half. The President's had eight years.

Like what we need right now is to start picking fights with each other. Like we don't have enough battles on enough fronts that we have to start fighting each other.

Even Toby. Who **always** defends CJ. **ALWAYS**

I don't even wanna think about what would happen if I screwed up that badly.

Not like I'm blaming her or anything, I'm not, I think it was a mistake and they happen and now we should be worrying about fixing it, not telling her in how many ways it was stupid. She's not in her freshman year, she knows how badly she screwed up.

And, knowing CJ, she'll beat herself into submission anyway, berating herself and stewing like she did when she had accidentally told the reporter about the grand jury thing.

It's not her fault this is hell to deal with and she has it worst of all because she's the public face.

Some of us have had more time than others.
